Studying in Fribourg

If you are from a migrant background and would like to study in Fribourg, or are already studying in Fribourg, write us! We would be glad to support you.

Choose a field of study and register at the University

Whether you want to study computer science, economics, law or psychology, we'll help you explore the various admission requirements for university and other higher education institutions.

Language learning

We can help you to improve your French or German through mentoring. You can also take language courses at the University's language center.

Academic success

Once you've enrolled, all you have to do is succeed! We'll put you in touch with a mentor who's studying in the same field, and who'll support you to make it easier for you to succeed.

The Projects

Livres

Herodote

Herodote is aimed at asylum seekers who have not yet reached B2 level in the language of study, but who meet the University's other admission requirements.

The Herodote program is a bridging year during which students take part in language courses in French or German to reach level B2. At the same time, they attend courses in the branch of study that interests them as free auditors to familiarize themselves with the workings of university courses, without taking exams at the end of the semester.

OFI OBI volunteers mentor participants in the Herodote program, helping them to discover the Swiss university system and learn the language.

Fist Bump

Herodote Plus

Herodote Plus is aimed at asylum seekers with a university background, but whose previous diplomas (secondary II and/or university) do not allow admission to the University of Fribourg.

This is a bridging year during which registered students follow language courses in French and German, and prepare for a university entrance exam.

AlterEgauZ

The AlterEgauZ program offers people from a migrant background the opportunity to take a bridging year before they can begin their regular studies at the Fribourg School of Social Work. Here too, the bridging year includes language courses, auditor courses and mentoring with a Swiss student.
